July 1982 Fashion have just got back from New York after playing at the first new music seminar with Africa Bambaataa and Haircut 100 (an interesting gig in more ways than one!) - they go into rehearsals in London for their appearance on BBC's Old Grey Whistle Test the following day. Dee Harriss the singer and main song writer in the band fails to turn up and no-one can contact him - band cancels tv show appearance.

As it turns out Dee has left the band, he just forgot to tell the others! The band immediatly return to Birmingham and hold auditions at UB40's studio, these are invite only auditions. Alan Darby turns up and band really like him as a guitarist, next in is Troy Tate and band really like him as singer - both are in the band. Less than 3 weeks after Dee quits the band the new band performs on The Old Grey Whistle Test, which goes out live from the Riverside Studios Hammersmith in London in their first ever live show and play 3 numbers - This is the first number.

This was the first single released from the Twilight of Idols album, which was also the bands last album.

After Dee Harriss quit the band in 1982 Alan Darby and Troy Tate joined the band, after a few months Troy left to pursue a solo carreer and the band recorded the last album in France with Zues B Held producing.

This show went out live at about 11pm on a friday it was called OTT a mixture of comedy and music, it was the adults version of TISWAS

This video was shot on a very wet stormy night in the inner courtyard of Somerset House in London I know because I was there. Cant remember who directed it but I do remember he wanted a shot of Mulligan's Roland Jupiter 8 synth,which cost at the time about £3000, sitting in the middle of the courtyard with the rain pouring down on it. Needless to say the synth didn't work very well afterwards and the shot doesn't appear to be in the finished video either! lol!!

Possibly the most well known song by Fashion. There was another version of this video made, which was a bit steamy, similar to the alternative Girls on Film video duran duran made at the same time, but have never seen it although I was at the video shoot, but the steamy scenes were shot on a closed set. The video was actually made in an old georgian house in central london which was empty at the time and all the bands equipment had to be carried up to the top floor up a narrow staircase, including the small PA system you can see in the video, which by the way wasn't plugged in and the whole day was a complete pain in the arse. mind you it did have its upside, I was sitting in the catering room having a coffee when the model, who you can see in the video came in dressed in a white robe, which was soaking wet and completly see thru and wearing nothing underneath and proceeded to stand in front of me drinking a coffee. As I said it did have its upside lol!!
